Building Signal Simulator
Web-based signal distribution network simulator
$ tree (4 sections)
What it is
A web app to model, analyse and optimise signal distribution networks in multi-storey buildings. It computes the signal level at each floor from the network's components (coaxial cable, splitters, distributors and outlets). It then checks each level against the quality margins and finds the cheapest configuration that still meets them.
There is a live demo.
Features
- Signal level per floor, updated as you change parameters.
- Cost optimisation within the quality margins.
- Colour-coded quality for each floor.
- A schematic editor to design the network layout.
- Saved simulations, and a catalogue of cables, splitters, distributors and outlets with their specifications.
Stack
Java 8 servlets on Apache Tomcat 9, an Apache Derby database through JDBC, and a vanilla JavaScript front end (ES modules) with Tailwind CSS.
Run it
With Docker and Docker Compose:
git clone https://github.com/jjaroztegi/BuildingSignalSimulator
cd BuildingSignalSimulator
docker compose up -d --build
# then open http://localhost:1313/BuildingSignalSimulator
The repository also has build scripts for a local Tomcat on Linux, macOS and Windows.
